69th ICAC Plenary Set For Lubbock

West Texas is a focal point of U.S. cotton activities.

The 69th Plenary Meeting of the ICAC will be conducted during the week of September 20 in Lubbock, TX.

The Standing Committee of the ICAC accepted an invitation to hold the meeting in Lubbock from the U.S. Government.

Delegates of Member Countries expressed their appreciation to the United States for its hospitality.

Texas accounts for over 50% of U.S. cotton production, and Lubbock County alone produces 10% of the cotton in Texas.

Lubbock is a focal point of cotton activities, including research, production and processing. Lubbock is also home to Texas Tech University, which has extensive cotton research and Extension activities, and the Fiber and Biopolymer Research Institute.

There are a host of cotton related enterprises in Lubbock, including Plains Cotton Cooperative, one of the busiest USDA cotton classing facilities, an office of Bayer CropScience and many private merchants.

Plenary Meeting attendees will have a chance to visit industry officials and see harvesting, ginning, transportation and classing activities.

ACSA Cotton Institute Dates Set

The American Cotton Shippers Assn. (ACSA) International Cotton Institute is now accepting applications for the 2010 session scheduled for June 2-July 20.
This is the 16th year of the ACSA International Cotton Institute which has seen over 650 students from 60 different countries participate in the most comprehensive residential program of its kind anywhere in the world involving cotton and its place in the international business world. The graduates of this institute have gone on to become instrumental employees and leaders in their companies and local industries and or government agencies after completion of the 8-week study program.
ACSA remains committed to its partners at the Fogelman Executive Business Center in providing the most up to date facilities and professional residential quality atmosphere that makes this program a success recognized worldwide.
ACSA stresses the need for starting the process of registration as soon as participants are identified. The process of obtaining the correct visa for this program, which is detailed fully on the Institute’s website, can be a time-consuming procedure. It is very important that the process begin as soon as acceptance has been confirmed.
ACSA remains fully committed to providing this important training and educational program in these difficult times the industry has experienced.
